May Day Attire
First Grade
*******Your child will have a white shell lei and kīhei provided for them to use on the day of their performance. Please have your child arrive to school by 7:45 am on May 1st so they have time to put these items on.
Mrs. Hew and Kumu Kaʻai would like to ask everyone to refrain from picking any flowers or plants on campus. Mahalo for your cooperation!
***First grade will be making crown flower and plumeria leis for our special guests. Please bring any color crown flower and plumeria flowers on 4/30, your lei making day (see photos below). Many people who own crown flower and plumeria trees know that children will ask to pick them to make a lei for May day. Please drive around your neighborhood to search for these flowers. Once you locate these flowers, knock on the door and ask permission from the resident. A wire hanger can be formed as your picking tool (see photo below). When picking crown flowers or plumeria flowers, be careful of the milky sap. Some people can be sensitive to it. The sap dries quickly after picking. Keep your flowers dry (no water) in a plastic bag in the front of your refrigerator for storage.
